For a sizeable number of students, going with the number of tweets being made daily, the CBSE has denied having their records. CBSE is the biggest education boards of the country. One of the former Chairman of this board is currently the Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.

What is appalling is that the Board has released a notification saying that since it doesn’t have the past records of the private students or non-regular students, it will hold exams for them and marks will be awarded to them on the basis of that.

It is to be reiterated that the CBSE had cancelled board exams this year and will award marks to students based on the marks obtained in class 10, 11 and in the practicals of class 12.

Not just CBSE, all state boards in the country, except those who could hold exams earlier, have resorted to this form of evaluation this year.
However, the CBSE has restricted this facility to private students.

Who are CBSE private students?

  • A candidate who had failed at the All India Senior School Certificate Examination of the Board will be eligible to reappear at a subsequent examination as a private candidate in the syllabus and text books as prescribed for the examination of the year in which he will reappear.
  • Teachers serving in educational institutions affiliated to the Board who have already passed Secondary or an equivalent examination at least two years before taking the Senior School Certificate Examination. Teacher candidates shall submit his application form alongwith a certificate by the Head of school in which they are serving duly countersigned by the Director of Education of the State/Union Territory concerned to the Regional Officer of the Board of the region in which the teacher is serving

These students are requesting the CBSE to cancel their exams and award them marks as per the policy adopted for regular students.
